Phishing

Internet "Phishing" or e-mail scams "Phishing" refers to someone appearing to be someone they are not while trying to obtain private information from you. The criminal will send an e-mail that generally will instruct you that the entity sending the e-mail needs to update some records and that you should enter the information or login to a site to confirm your information is correct.

The website to which you are directed may look exactly like an authentic website but is located somewhere other than the legitimate website. A good rule of thumb to follow is to always type in the website address you intend to go to when you are logging into a site that contains your private information or any site that you utilize a login name and password to access.

Ozaukee Bank will never ask you for any non-public personal information by e-mail. Examples of non-public private information include; PIN numbers, account numbers, passwords, social security numbers, etc. Even if the e-mail looks like it has been sent from Ozaukee Bank please do not respond with information or click on a link that takes you to a site that then requests non-public personal information from you.
