Security

At Ozaukee Bank we strive to provide a secure web site environment. Here are some details that we take to protect you and some steps you can use in protecting yourself while using your computer. Follow the links below to learn more.

Virus
Security Check: Key-stroke Loggers New ID Fraud Tool
In a recent development of online ID fraud, a virus or malicious program (often called a Trojan), is secretly being planted in computers. The program captures keystrokes and sends them to thieves who use the information to commit identity fraud.
What happens:
- An unsolicited e-mail is received which has an alarming or tempting subject line.
- When the e-mail is opened, the message convinces the user to open the attachment or link to a website.
- Opening the attachment/linking to the website initiates the installation of a keystroke logger file (a program that records what is typed) on the computer.
- After a certain amount of time, number of keystrokes, or when certain characters are typed (such as an account number/bank name), the program sends the information over the internet to the thief.
Protecting yourself and your business:
- Be wary of unrequested e-mail messages: do not open, forward, or reply to them.
- If an e-mail is opened accidentally, do not open any attachments.
- Do not visit links or websites if unsure of the owner.
- To learn more about protecting yourself and your business, visit www.FTC.gov or Ozaukee Bank's Security Resource Center at www.ozaukeebank.com.
